My computer starts throwing up delayed write errors on all internal hard drives after around 30 of uptime, it then pretty much freezes or BSOD's. It has been doing this ever since i built it. I have tried replacing the OS hdd, motherboard and RAM and still having problems. I've re-installed the os too. I've tried disabling disk cache and it was no help.
Lately it has started crashing programs, such as HL2, firefox. yesterday it wouldn't boot into windows and i had to preform a "fixboot" and "fixmbr" to get it back.
Anyone got any ideas? I wanted to try a different CPU but i dont have access to a spare.
As it stands i think its the CPU as its one thing i havent changed yet. along with the PSU and GPU.

Re: computer issues
Have you been monitoring your CPU's temperature?
Overheating could cause these problems.
Try running something like HeavyLoad to monitor you temp at full load.
If you cant get your hands on a spare CPU maybe you know someone with a PC that has a compatible motherboard you could test your CPU in...?

Which model ballistix are you using? You need to set the timings and memory voltage manually, only certain nvidia motherboards read the EPP profile and set your mem voltage and timings automatically.
Also Id recommend against running your memory at 2.2v as per the crucial specs - this is fine with fans blowing at it but unless you have direct cooling on the memory itll overheat and die. I dont go over 1.975v personally for day to day use.
Not familiar with the foxconn board specifically so Im not sure what voltages and memory speeds you can select. However, ballistix is pretty much all the same so I'd recommend the following generic settings to get you going :
DDR voltage: 1.8v. Memory speed/ratio/divider: 800mhz / 2:3 / 1:1.5. Timings: 5-5-5-12 anything else on auto. Command Rate if listed should be set to 2T (or 2N).
If you want to go further then try tightening the "5" timings down to "4" one at a time. Work from the bottom up as you navigate your bios.
I would expect you to be able to run 4-4-4-12 @ about the 2.0v mark, you may be lucky and get it stable below 2v, maybe slightly over but in my experience they all hit approx this same figure.
As you have a 266fsb (1066mhz) cpu there is no point trying for 1066mhz (if its available on your board) as you will be stressing your motherboard a lot and will likely have to run higher motherboard and memory voltages.
Having said that nothing is created equal - my best sticks of DDR2 can manage 821mhz 4-4-4-12 and 1069mhz 5-5-5-18 @ 1.8v - its all luck of the draw!
Anyway, regardless of whether your memory is causing you the problem hopefully this small wall of text will proove useful anyway .
hmm, i thought i replied to dirty jesus but obviously not, Im running XP Pro SP3, problems were occuring on SP2 as well. Not running a RAID. Tried pretty much everythign on that site but didnt help.
Pilsy, thanks for that will try that but for now the problem has escalated.
It is not stuck in a BSOD loop, it think its sticking at the chkdsk scan on startup and will BSOD and reboot. I tried getting into safe mode but i get the same problem. So i cant even get into it now. using works lappy atm
