Okay guys serious issue here.... the whole ping thing isnt going away can anyone help me out this is urgent cant seem to be to play anymore....... i told some of you that maybe its the flat mate who uses internet with me at teh same time but now he is gone and my ping is till huge cant some one help me out.......
im using Netgeat router to connect to the internets
There a lot of things it could be. Do torrents and videos stream alright? Try an online bandwidth test, choose the london or maidenhead server and check your ping. If it's still high it could be your ISP pising about.
Next you could try a clean boot and see if any services or programs are causing it. choose run from the start menu, type msconfig and check diagnostic startup from the general tab, then go to the services tab, hide microsoft services and disable everything (you may have a service for your internet, so check you don't disable that first). Then reboot and have a look then.
Otherwise it could be a virus hijacking your bandwidth. Some p2p programs run in the background and leech bandwidth too even when you've not got them on too.
But, I'm no expert. These are only basic tests.

sorted it today turn out the router and the modem were ten feet in the grave and finally carked it today.... so they had to replaced and i run real smooth now
