Dunno bout anyone else but in 2 hours of playing sicne the new patch tf2 freezes for 5 secs minimizes error sound is heard a box pops up about something wrong with hl2.exe i click ok and a tf2 closes leaving me queuing back up for my slot on the server
Yea i have that too but its worse for me..... cant access the game at all now as soon as i get to the loading screen the game crashes says that error wif hl2.exe and i cant do anything....
what happened to you also happened to me but since the second incident i cant run the game now
i even uninstalled it and reinstalled it but it doesnt seem to do the trick
I'm just getting looping sound and insane fps-lag after a certain period of playing, so far I blame the faulty RAM stick though, will have to see once the new ones arrive.

Re: hl2.exe error
I'm getting the same sort of problems. Probably 5 times since last night the games crashed and I get a popup telling me that hl2.exe has a problem and needs to close.
Seems to happen on arena more than anywhere else but I think it crashed on badwater once too.

Wistfane pretty much described what I was experiencing last night.
The error message I got was:
First I re-installed HL2 and that didn't really help, only changed the error message for a couple of tries and soon it was the above one again.
Then I verified the game caches (gcf-files) of TF2 and HL2 and renamed the tf2-folder in steam/steamapps/<accountname>/ so that it would extract the stuff from those gcf-files again. I also removed ClientRegistry.blob from steam's folder which forces steam to update itself from scratch I think.
Now I don't know which of these helped but atleast now I was able to play and haven't experienced hl2.exe errors so far. I think that the most effective thing was that letting it recreate the tf2-folder but who knows..
