not sure if what i have to say may help, in fact i think a couple of people have already mentioned this.

back in the day on my old machine just after HL2 was released i had terrible stutter problems, seemed like park of the game they happened so often, either ways long story short

updating the chipset driver fixed the problem for me, specially if you are using a veriety of the VIA chipset controllers, you can usually check this by looking at the controller for your HDD(s), i downloaded the all in one driver, updated, rebooted and problem solved.

if the latest driver sux, see if you can find a copy of the older best driver, i personally never update unless i have a reason to, i am still running rather old drivers and never have an issue with TF2,

i wonder, not one has mentioned doing a DX update (not that i noticed n e ways), see if you are able to update that, if for some odd reason you are on an older version, bah go figure what ever helps right....

bizarre, last night i had no probs at all, played for a good couple of hours.

and i have done nothing to the pc.
