Post Head sets
Can anyone recommend a good headset? looking to spend no more than £30. Don’t need a 5.1 set and don’t want a USB set either.

You know, you could stop making these smart ass comments and try helping the guy?

It's attitudes like that which will drive people away from these forums.

Try this one?

It's USB, but it's the most common connection for a headset / microphone combo. And it's £19, bargin if you ask me.

I bought a pair of Sennheiser 166 which were around £55 and I am really impressed
with the quality of the sound in them. I dunno if the people I played with last night
could here me though :)

I know they were over your budget, but I would like to recommend them anyway :)

Normaly, for gaming I use these CLICK But being as Gimpster keeps on at me about a mic, I just ordered these babies CLICK to go with my X-Fi Fatal1ty soundcard. So soon you will have to put up with my dreary monotones, Elvis impersonations, lame jokes and general gloating. They are for Christmas though so run free while you can heheh (EVIL) And they come with a free game too! (Edit: when I ordered mine on sunday, the free game was Ghost Recon Advance Warfighter 2 but now it's changed to Call of Juarez)

Talking of X-Fi soundcards, has anyone else got one? I can highly recommend one for headphone gaming as sourround sound is perfectly replicated via something called CMSS-3D. This even has an "elevation filter" which means you can hear sounds above and below you. How the hell it works I do not know but work it does. In fact it works so well I once got banned from a F.E.A.R server after deftly lobbing a 'nade through an upper window of a building after I had heard my enemy walking across the floor above me. I never even saw him but could pinpoint almost exactly where he was from sound alone. Accusations of "glowbots" and "wall scanning" followed and my forum explanation taken as a lie even though they could not give any evidence against me.

Im getting one for xmas off the missus (computer in the bedroom and no headphones etc etc). I've been looking at the creative one from overclockers that Choronzon linked too. Also these surround sound phones : http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... subcat=692 . Both the same price, think I'll go with the zalman's on the basis of the surround.

How come you don't want 5.1 goober?

Perhaps he has an X-Fi sound card like me, and therefore no need for a 5.1 headset as I described in my post. Why have 5.1 when you can have a complete 360 degree bubble of 3d sound through stereo cans?
