gfx idles at around 50, peaking at high 70's in game.
I'm sure heat isn't the problem, although that was my first suspicion as the problem takes time to develop (i.e. as the temp builds), but it's not the case.
If the old graphics drivers arent fixing the problem, i would say youre bang on with the psu being too lightweight. Sounds like the psu is coming under stress keeping up with the power demands when the system has a high load. This could be leading to unstable voltages and other nasty stuff that i dont know much about.
If this is the case, then it is probably progressively damaging the rest of your components too. New psu costs next to nothing, get a 350-400W to be safe. Better too much than too little.

Re: System Instability
I don't think PSUs over 300w are available for 3furies case... so he'd have to move all his parts into a different case, except the motherboard because Dell mobos usually only work in Dell cases and PSUs.
But try everything else before going down this route, so you can be sure its not being caused by something else.
Had a good long chat with Pilsy last night, and I'm pretty comfortable it's not the power load either. If it were, i'd be seeing other symptoms, such as very hot air being expelled, mouse freezing, audio wierdness etc. I don't get any of these.
I'm staying with the driver line of investigation at the minute, have just downgraded to 177.89. However if anyone has seen these sort of symptoms and it wasn't driver, please let me know and I'll check that out too.
now i think of it, i had some problems with my wireless card drivers, all was good until i formatted, when i installed all the new drivers i got loads of problems, full system crashes, slowing mouse, 15 sec crashes (about 1 every min) then as i made my way through all the drivers i had installed it turned out to be the wireless card, the system only worked when i pulled it out, no matter what drivers i rolled back to i just couldn't get it to work. i ended up just buying a usb one instead.
that doesnt rly does it

We'll i'm pleased to say that since loading version 177.89 drivers, i played for 2 hours with no ill effects. I'll keep going with this but I've got a good feeling we've cracked it.
Big thanks to Pilsy, the resident PC genius! I owe you a pint or two mate.
Out of interest I monitored my core and gfx temps in game and I'm getting 40's core, and around 75'c gfx which I think is pretty good too.

Re: System Instability
75c is within operating range but a tad high mate. I dont like seeing anything above 60 tbh!
Really glad you're sorted mate, it sounded so similar to the issues I was having I wouldve bet my best wanking hand om it being forceware drivers!
Its a bugger though that it seems each system prefers a different driver. The only thing in common so far seems to be that the pre-physX drivers are the best.
Any update from you Bedizen? Tried an earlier driver than 178.13 yet dude?
