My problem of my PC refusing to start up has returned, i say returned, it never really left i just started working around it.
For a recap heres the situation:
90% of the time when i power on my PC the graphics card fan and auxilary fans will start up, the system will however not pass POST and will not beep, so its stuck in an eternal state of fans spinning at high speed, but no POST screen, no beep to indicate successfull post no advancement, the PC will stay in this state until i turn it off.
The only way around this ive found it to completly unplug the PC, however even this is starting to fail i basically have to remember to turn the pc off at the mains at the end of every night if i want the PC to work within 20 minutes the next morining (if i forget i have to unplug it in the morning and wait a while).
Things ive tried to fix this:
Replacing the CMOS battery with one from 2 other mobos, no resultant luck (though it did have a 100% success rate for a couple of days, it now yields no result if i switch between the 3 cmos batteries)
Replacing the PSU, replaced my 2 year old one with a new 600w one (£50 down the drain), same again, fixed the problem for a while but now its returned.
Connections are 100% fine, no capacitors have snapped off.
According to wiki the fact that its not beeping could be either bad psu (unlikely since i just replaced), no speaker to beep from (wrong since it beeps when it works) or it could be a system board (meaning motherboard?)
Any thoughts from peoples? Id rather not forking out £80 ex vat to fix it.
Specs again are::
X1900xt 512mb radeon E6400 Dual Core 2.13 ghz processor 2 gb GEIL ram GA-965p-DS3 Motherboard Standart Sata Harddrive
Thanks in advance lads

Re: Bloody POST Problem is back again
Hey man, I had an identical problem a year ago. But I gave up and bought a new PC.
However, Im pretty sure it was the memory. Ive since tried the same sticks in 2 other motherboards and replicated the same problem with them. Apart from this problme the memory appeared fine in Memtest etc, was strange. If you can get hold of/borrow some more memory to test this before buying some that would be good. Try with just 1 stick maybe.

Need to flash the bios mate.
If you need a hand come find me later and ill make you an autoflash script - i have the p35 version of your board so its the same procedure.
Also in the bios in the overclocking section change your system voltages from Auto to Manual and make sure everything is on Normal EXCEPT your memory volts which should be whatever the manufacturer rated the sticks at. Bios treats normal memory volts as 1.8v plus whatever you specify (+0.1v, +0.2v etc etc).

Gigabyte + voltages on Auto = nightmare.
Might take you up on that offer mate, havnt a clue how to flash bios, can change stuff manually no probs so ill have a look at voltages, but flashing is beyond me (never thought id hear those words come out of my mouth ). Thanks mate

Re: Bloody POST Problem is back again
For me it was a problem that suddenly appeared after 1 year of using the computer with no problems. Tried flashing bios, and resetting CMOS, mannually setting speeds/voltages etc etc all to no avail. the computer just randomly decided when if it was gonna post or not, with no beeps. Although that be said it was a completely different board.
Checked my voltages, all seem normal, gonna update my bios again and see if it yields any result
EDIT: Got the new BIOS from gig, cant seem to update it though, strange as ive done it once before, guess im gonna need that flash script...

those the same stock you flogging to me?
No lol, Im talking about a couple of computers ago. The memory Im selling is some very nice OCZ 800mhz reaper sticks that are working great. I just got a bunch of money back from the british gas(bastards overcharged me) so I upgraded to some corsair dominator 1066mhz
i have a similar problem but i find that if i leave the fans spinning for a few minutes then turn it off and on again it boots up. I reckon its somethingto do with the mobo that causes this.
