Re: Bloody POST Problem is back again
When I get back tonight ill email you a cd iso to boot from.
I think you can automate the flash procedure and I've got to do mine anyway. I finally got a new stepping E0 core E8500 and i need to upgrade the bios before the bloody thing will post. Of course i didnt find out (or think to check ) until id put the new cpu in and had to then take it all apart again and reinstall the old one.
Anyway if I cant do an auto flash for it ill do you some easy to follow directions .
If the bios flash doesnt solve it then you can try taking it apart, cleaning it all out and putting it back together again.
Try ram in different order then different slots.
Do you have a spare memory, gfx, cpu? Long shot I know.
Ive seen dodgy IDE and SATA cables make pcs fail to post or erratic before too.
Im hoping your voltages werent on auto, because if theyve been running at something stupid for months, especially if youve had CIA enabled, you may be seeing the effects of electromigration (ie the gradual death of your motherboard or a component in it).
However my gigabyte board is tbh equally twitchy. Sometimes restarting shuts down and powers up again, others it just restarts normally, sometimes it turns on from cold 3 times in a row - ie on/off/on/off/on -> post . Just weird. A few times its failed to turn on or booted up at 800fsb and nothing will coax it to do any other speed. In that case i just pull the power lead, press the case power button a few times to discharge it and leave it for a few mins. Plug it all back in and its fine every time. Its certainly never a board I could sell, but then its been like this since day one and the performance is brilliant, so i live with it.
Didnt have much time for this post so i just threw that down in the order I thought of it so apologies if its a little less literate than normal. Will check this topic again when I get home.
