A couple of months ago my schools IT department decided to stage an OC'ing competition where we were asked to form teams and compete against each other initially it was aimed at the A level ICT students( I do Art and Product Design:Resistant materials), but i asked if i could enter as a team on my own and they let me, bemused as to wether i was competent enough. We were given a list of possible components which they could get at reduced price wholesale, and a budget of about 10-15 grand (the school is a technology specialist school so gets lots of funding for ict etc). the deadline for the final OC test was last week. I basically started out with the idea that i would build a supercomp. so first i picked a supermicro e-atx mobo designed for workstations, which i added 2x Intel Xeon w5800 for cpu's by this time id spent about 1-2k, (one team by this point had finished their build) at this point i pulled my trump card out, my stepdad works in the ICT industry and he's where i got my RAM from, for free the full amount the mobo supported which was 96gb ddr3 (the max anyone else was using was 16gb because they were all focused on making ridiculous cooling systems) alongside this i also added 2x nvidia gtx 295. to power this i had 2x 1.5kw PSU's, the cooling was supplied by 4 watercooling systems ( i watercooled the RAM no point but i did ) for HDD's I had 8 1.5TB doohickeys and i got 2 dell 30" monitors. As i'm a tech student i built the entire case myself(well obviously all that kit wasnt going to fit in a normal case, was it?). so anyway i built it and i only spent 8 grand total. So when the actual test came around, i had it running on xp, vista, and server 2008 64 bit editions, with the cpu's @4.3ghz stable. The it department first benchmarked each machine (i came out top in all but one cause one team had 4 gtx 295's working somehow, dont know how though) then they decided on using crysis as a game to test each machine at 1920x1200 res (which immediately put one team out as they were using a projector as their screen max res 1920x1080) i was ok cause my screens max res was 2560x1600, and i came first in that with what i think is rather impressive personally, every setting at max, 57fps or 28fps 2560x1600 so in the end i won overall, but i thought the prize was just a trophy, and bragging rights about being better with comps than they entire ICT dep. how wrong i was, the prize was in actual fact to keep the computer that was made for the competition, so ive now got that sitting in my room at home not being used that much because i dont know what to do with it. Any suggestions??

Solved.
Alternatively, run Multiple copies of folding@home using CUDA.
tryed that, the pc didnt break a sweat, its actually rather boring ive tried just about everything i even had 2 custom WoW realms running on it and even when one of them filled up with my cap limit of 250 people on it it was only at 65% usage i need something really big to do with it.
@Dr Alan, nah ill keep the gpu's worst case scenario ill put the gpu's in my normal machine and let the super get forgotten in a corner

This thread smells of bullshit (unless detailed pictures are provided).
No school is going to let several groups of kids (and one stand alone person who is not even on said course) build "super" computers for shits and giggles at ~£8000 a throw. And you really need to learn what the definition of a supercomputer is, as a fast server is not a super computer.
Oh and where do you get xeon w5800's from because as far as I can see Intel do not make them.
