Post Headset mic not working
Speculative ask for anyone with experience of a Plantronics DSP500 mic apparently dying for no reason. Worked fine on Skype call to work at 11.30am today, next usage at 5pm the mic didn't work. Not in Skype, not in TF2, not in Windows Sound control panel. I've found one web reference with instructions on how to take the thing apart to see if anything's up inside, but I'd prefer to exhaust non-invasive options first.

Alternatively, suggestions for a new headset around the £30-40 mark are welcome ;)

No idea about your problem i'm afraid, but I can recommend a good mic.

I have had mine for about 2 years and had to replace it once, when my brother tripped on the wire and pulled it apart ;) . They have good sound and the microphone is excellent.

i think thats more to do with your speaker setup mate, don't you have a proper amp and speakers rather than a set of pc speakers?

i've heard you moan at people on vent went their mic is only slightly louder than others at my end :?

edit: pc world did a thing where you could reserve online and get some money off when you pick up from store. don't know if they still do, but worth checking out if you do decide to buy another headset.

rofl its got nothing to do with my speaker setup, how ridiculous.

im just pointing out its not amazing, sometimes its a bit crappy and sometimes its fine. my saitek one is the same. £20 in the curry's bargain bin or something. the cans are good and the mic is ok. the only ones i have heard and thought they were good were negs when he fist got his logitech's

fair enough, it just reminded me of the numerous times you have raged at people in vent for "hurting your ears" when they sound fine to everyone else.

Fatal1ty: £25.90 + £6 p&p from pixmania
http://www.pixmania.co.uk/uk/uk/1978602 ... ?srcid=369

Nothing technically wrong with the microphone.

Microphone type: noise-cancelling condenser
Frequency response: 100Hz-15kHz
Impedance: <10kohms
Sensitivity (1kHz): -40dBV/Pa
