Every day i am unable to connect to steam between the hours of about 6pm-11pm. This isn't usually an issue because i'm connected before then but today steam crashed just after the Highlander practice and now i can't connect to steam and thus can't play any games.

Am i the only one that experiences this? All ports described by the steam support article are open. I'm going to go see if other pcs in the house on the same connection have the same issue.

We are a family of torrenters so they throttle us during peak times.

Their throttling might be blocking all "uncommon" ports, an they let some common ports open, like 80, 443, 23, etc.

To resolve this you could stop torrenting?

It is almost certainly due to traffic management. Tiscali/TalkTalk recently were making it difficult to sign into steam from 4:30pm till 6ish.

tiscali still operate with the fake broadband thats actually dial-up service they had a few years ago? i would serious avoid them for gaming/downloading way too many disconnects with no ability to auto reconnect made it an impossible service for me to use

My internet with Tiscali is alright, i've been with them for a few years across different households in the area after being with other isps (BT, Orange, Sky) and with Tiscali i've had the best pings (Typically 30-40 on our servers) and fewest issues (Only issues come up when the bill doesn't get payed).

fair enough tho, i just had the one experience, my mum is on tiscali and i moved back in for a few months (between jobs lol) it was pretty bad to say the least. great for emails and catching up on the archers
