Post USB problem
Okay I just accidentally dropped my laptop off my bed (about 1 foot) it unfortunatly hit the usb with my mouse inside. It broke the USB port. I have 3 other ports on my laptop but none of the others will work and I have no idea why, none of the other ports are damaged. Please help this is a relatively new and rather expensive laptop. :(

Is anything stuck inside the USB port?

That usb that had the mouse plugged in is completely shattered. Pretty much fell onto the mouse plug and wrenched it out and mangling everything inside.
Now I am getting no plugs working at all, even the one on the opposite side of the laptop. FFS I am not having a good day.

From my POV, the slave USB port kinda screwed up the master unit (hopefully it's not damaged in any other way) and if you disconnected the crushed USB port it should be working again. (Though it can't be done in any other than physical way.)

go to Computer -> Properties -> Device manager -> look under Universal Serial Bus Controllers and paste an image here of what you see when you open the tree (the opposite of collapse  )

Havent got a solution to the other 3 usb ports but i did something similar with my laptop.

Is it evident that you actually dropped the laptop? Like is it obvious that it was 100% your fault.

I have a medion laptop and in the process of picking it up i dropped it and it fell onto the charger port, it was plugged in at the time. I rang up medion and said 'oh my laptop isnt charging' So they came, collected it and sent it off, and warned me that if it was my fault, then i would be charged (the laptop was still under warranty).

It came back within a week, completely fixed and the report said that during charging, the charger malfunctioned and overheated, melting the side of the laptop and damaging the inside. Yes i was very lucky, I may have gotten an idiot who hadnt a clue, but still fixed it, or I got some real nice bloke in the company who decided to fix it and make up a reason. Either way it was fixed under the warranty and i wasnt charged.

So the moral of all that crap above, if you think you could get away by saying something went wrong and making it look like your laptop overheated in that port and damaged the laptop, you may be able to send it off and get it fixed.

Nah there's a crack in the side and the entire of that single usb is shattered to bits inside. If that picture above looks okay then I guess it was just a surge and everything is working now except the broken one. Managed to hammer out the bend in my mouses plug and it works so thank god for that.
Cheers for the help!

Funnily enough I've done a similar thing before when I was younger. I need to take better care of my laptops. >_>
