I downloaded Fistful of Frags for the event on Thursday - was having massive issues with it saying I was logged in somewhere else when I wasn't.
So I deleted the .blob files in the steam folder to try and fix it and moved my steamapps folder out to preserve it. This caused me massive problems with Steam getting stuck on the "Connecting blahblah account" window, leaving my computer completely unresponsive and forcing me to hard shutdown.
Eventually I got it fixed...and all was working fine. However I've just tried moving my steamapps folder back in so I can get TF2 etc back....
And now I'm having the same problem again. Steam just gets stuck and hangs and screws up my PC...
Anyone got any solutions? I'm guessing I could just reinstall Steam from scratch to fix it, however I'm trying to avoid this as it would mean redownloading everything...I'm guessing that it's something in my steamapps folder which is causing this, however I have no idea what it is.
I once got stuck at the "updating" window from steam which kept saying "server problems please try again later" .. I had to delete the .blob several times (4 or 5 times) and try connecting again until it was fixed... dont know if this works out maybe the same way.
Theres a proper back up utility on steam, your better off using that instead of copying the folder. Just save it to your desktop or whatever. Its under the Steam menu(first one).

Ok I've manually deleted my entire Steam folder and reinstalled it because this was driving me nuts.
Steam now starts up which is good - for some reason when I first installed it this time Windows was trying to run it in compatability mode for Vista (?!?!?) but turned that off and seems to work....
Now I've just gotta download all my games again...woop....woop....
FoF is never coming on my laptop again....I strongly suspect it.
