Hey,
since I installed a new set of GPU drivers pilsy (XTreme-G 257.15) mentioned I can't connect to steam.
It shows me this error:


I tried everything from this thread here, nothing helped. :

Even reinstalled, still nothing.
Couldn't find any threads on other forums so I'm asking you tech wizards for help

Edit: my way to fix it was copy the files from the steamapps directory except winui.gcf, make a clean install of steam put em back in and it should be working fine.

Delete clientregistry.blob.

tried that dozen of times, aint working.

Check the hosts file in Windows\System32\drivers\etc or delete the new GPU drivers.

GPU drivers wont (or certinaly shouldn't) have done that dude - they're not even slightly related. My guess is its a co-incidence.

Is it just steam thats playing up? Definitely not down in your local area dude?

Copy "steamapps" folder out the steam directory, uninstall steam. Reinstall steam and copy steamapps directory back in. Launch steam and click "resume updating" on your previously installed games to repair them. You'll have to dl some stuff again, but the majority of it should be in steamapps already.

Will do it now, posting results when it's done.
Also Stinger said that his network stuff is down aswell, so maybe it's something steam server related.

Yeah could well be. I really dont think the gpu driver can have affected it mate, but i've learnt not to say never where PCs are concerned .

yea dont think that either but its just so weird that after the reboot after the install it wasn't working no more. just a coincidence i hope, dont really want to go back to the old ones.

Not getting that error, but steam is no longer connected for me, went offline when I updated steam a little while ago this afternoon...

Me thinks someone has broken something a valve's end.

Edit - or it could just be maintenance...

Could be a Steam network issue, as said above my own is down at the moment (maybe everyones?), but it was working fine an hour or so ago, so do wonder whether this is really PGTs problem as that seems to have gone on longer than this issue.

I think it is just the end, he is doomed...
