yeah but its too expensive and includes stuff i dont need. Like hdd id rather spend that dosh on a decent card.
I really have no idea which ones are good. I just heard ati card are unstable and high upkeep. Im really not into the whole water cooling overcloking stuph to push a few more pixels on the screen.
I just want a modern stable system that will last for the couple of years while im at uni
Wisty, ignoring the price side (which is less then what you said), this doesn't come with any hdd's, its a barebones system, includes: Intel Core i5 750 2.66Ghz 2 x 2GB DDR3 1333Mhz ATX Black Gaming Tower Case 750w ATX Power Supply Cost of £420, leaves £150 for the card, so a ati 5770 is doable there on the amount you said i the first post.
I've not had any issues with my ati card, and the only person I know has is Queed who some how managed to break the fan on it (I blame lil queed).
It's your call, but lower than an i5 isn't going to last the time you want and still be decent for newer games.
thing is i love everything about it. its the card i woried aboot. coz gots an Ati and it borked on the first few month i got it. Aj was complaining about 5750 that it overheated and crashed his pc. Pilsy also said they unstable and mostly capricoius in terms of compatability. Also snatchers had his saphire 59XX something done gone blowed itself up.
I am willing to take queeds case as an exception coz he prolly tried to use the fan to start a bonfire or make a milkshake or something.
So yeah if there is really better nvidia alternative ill settle for the 5770 or the 5750 series

I was trying to cook a steak actually
although, it was a blessing in disguise, as it made me buy one of these so now my gfx card looks like some kind futuristic hoverthing.
IMO the rig that KB posted is a really good choice, although i'm no expert.

Re: New PC
Buy a nice motherboard bundle for i3, i5 or i7 depending on your budget.
Get a nice AIR cooler on it and consider overclocking the CPU later when you feel more confident. You can get massive gains overclocking intel stuff at the moment that will make you PC last much longer in terms of performance on games. Not to say it wont be awesome at stock speed but just saying.....its mad not too.
