Sorry Bedizen I know im banging on about it but dude this is the only way. you will be grateful or regretful depending on if you go this route or not:
£500 - PC £300 - S/card / External 8 track mixer / some kind of monster hardware input unit.
Its gonna kill me if i see you get a beast PC knowing how much fail trying to record will be, i know you said you have an external jack unit but virtualy 0 lag is basically the same as any amount, its really got to be actual 0 and you will never be able to record with midi unless you get something fairly high end. I dont know much about PCs man but I know everything about struggling with recording due to lack of decent sound hardware
Are you likely to keep your old PSU as well, as i assume if its able to run a 5870 its got to be a fairly reasonable unit?
I have a problem with the PSU at the mo - it's a 600w OCZ silent model, but the fucking thing is well noisy.
Plus, it keeps reaching a critical level of dust, after which the fan blade rattles to bollocks against the mounting.
So... I wouldn't mind getting rid of it.
Try cleaning it or if that doesnt work RMA it because thats an anomaly (ive got 3 pc's in my room with those PSU's in them with no noise atm) as it should still be under warranty?
