I have a Razer Lachesis, i guess its pretty much the ambidextrous version of the one your aiming for (fits me better than the Ergonomic designs tbh...). Its served me pretty good. No problems with software, no problems with the mouse either and I've had it for a couple of years now. Only complaint is that the mouse feet wear down pretty quick. The originals lasted about 6 months before the wear became noticeable. You can buy replacements, but they are even softer than the originals and wear down faster (3months). Any sort of grit on your mousepad, any food debris etc can scratch the feet and ruin the smoothness so yeah...I don't snack at my PC anymore...
My brother has a Logitech G5, he is pretty happy with it but recently it started resetting the sensitivity to default randomly. I figure its a driver problem, otherwise its a pretty good mouse. Same problem with the mouse feet though.
So yeah, if you haven't splashed out yet then I can say Razer has been pretty good to me. I think you probably do pay a lot for the brand though, and I don't really believe that more DPI is really as important as they want you to think. Mine is usually set on its lowest setting anyway.
Oh, and invest in a decent mousepad. Honestly think you get more bang for your buck with a good surface to put your mouse on than the mouse itself.

Re: Razer Imperator - Anyone got one?
Cheers Kiss Kiss. I think you may have decided for me.

Have tried the copperhead and own a deathadder, nothing wrong with em whatsoever. Better than the MS mouse that preceeded it, on which the miscroswitches stopped responding after about a year
