Installed GTA4 on my friends rig (6 cores AMDÅŸ 5700 series ATI, 4 GB RAM DD3= and he has some issues with the framerate when the camera is turning. I mean, for example if he drives the car straight then he has no issues but if he turns left or right then the framerate seems to drop. Any ideas?
Thx in advance!

It's the most poorly optimised PC game I've ever played, shadows look like trash under most configurations too. After some tweaking I still managed to run with decent FPS (60+) though.

I turned everything down to 800x600 and the shadows and everything but it still doing that. Could be the fact that the game is torrented? He has a crap monitor tho (very old, looks like an ancient TV). Could be the refresh rate? It says h:50 v:59

Its the GPU, GTA4 has issues with the 5700 series cards (i can replicate the same problem across 3 different machines with the only constant being a HD57xx card)

If you're playing a torrented copy, odds are it's unpatched. They fixed quite a few performance issues with the patch.

My bro has a beast PC and he had this issue where everytime he pressed a key, like to move or jump etc, it would temporarily freeze. here is the fix he used:
