Post Computer not working after upgrade
Ello,
so I ordered a new GPU ( XFX HD 5830 ) and a new PSU ( SilverStone Strider Essential 500W ) for Christmas.
After putting it in my monitor wouldn't show a picture and just went into stand-by mode.
I thought it may be broken since it's a couple of years old, so I tried the new monitor of my brother but I still didn't get a picture.
After that I put in my old PSU with my old GPU and the same thing happened.
Tried every possible GPU/PSU combination but nothing is working.
I just don't get whats wrong, the CPU fan is also spinning, so maybe my mobo got broken, which still seems unlikely but the only possible thing that could've happened.
Anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this or do I just need a new mobo ??

Cheers for the help and a merry christmas !

[Xmas4]

try your mobo in your brother's computer to check if it's borked. Don't really know what to say.

Well Bedizen let us down so my advice is to hit it with a stick.

In honour of my lack of technical knowhow, the above is not advised.

no point in doing that, he got an AMD Phenom II and i got an AMD Athlon 64 X2 4600+.
his cpu won't fit on my mobo.

Also my mobo is an Asrock ALive NF6p-VSTA AM2, if that is of any help.

Besides, he doesn't want me to do it, I guess I'll wait till monday and get a new mobo. Weee :|

Try a different graphics card (The old one?). Components can often arrive new and shiny but be broken. Had that exact issue when i bought a new 5770 at the start of this year.

Tried different cables? Maybe try vga and hdmi.

The easiest and best way to diagnose computer problems is to just keep switching things around till it works, then what ever you replaced last is the cause :)
