Oooh. Sounds just like when I randomly frazzled my mobo changing video cards a few years back.

To clarify: you don't even get the BIOS output right after powering up the box?

From what you described it sounds indeed as if you shorted out your Mainboard with the new PSU/graphics card, though that is a bit unlikely and unheard of, at least for me.

The following things could still help in diagnosing the problem before you go and buy a new board:
  1. What Tom said. Did you connect your screen with the same cables before the hardware upgrade? Like vga before and dvi after? If so you might want to switch back. If it's not too much work, try hooking up your box to your brothers screen.
  2. Always work with the simplest possible setup. Most modern boards also have some video output directly integrated. Try connecting your screen to the vga/hdi output of your mainboard. By not using the graphics card you have one less variable in your problem. If it works you know where the problem lies, if not you're at least down to three points of failure.
  3. In the spirit of point 2: if possible try and run your setup outside the case, on some sort of padding on the table or floor, with the minimum number of components possible attached.

Does sound like you frazzled it. Did the same thing a while ago.

Are you you even getting a POST beep?

All connections solid and good?

Just to clarify this, you did plug the power supply to the graphics card also? I know I didn't do this when I got the first card that needed a separate power connection.

Used the same cables and already tried my brothers screen and the tv of my parents, neither works.

My mobo doesn't have the direct input part, best thing I can do is convincing my bro to let me put in my gpu/psu in his computer, but that's not likely to happen.

Don't see the point in this tbh :?

Oh haven't thought of this yet, indeed I don't hear a sound.

I have plugged everything in :)

But how can I tell if the CPU is still working?

Anyway, cheers for the help so far ! [Xmas4]

ugh... if you don't hear a post beep, your mobo is gone :(

but it's strange that it should do that! I'm pretty sure you followed the right procedure of unplugging everything, grounding yourself and then making the switch. :geek:

just for testing purposes, could you reset the BIOS via jumper?

Sounds pretty crap mate....Ive had the same thing happen to me before. Got a new card then end up having to replace the board as well!

As a final check Id suggest taking the computer apart and putting it back together on top of some cardboard outside of the case. This eliminates any possible short circuits etc. Connect only what you need, ie graphics card only. If you still cant get the motherboard to post after this then you can assume its fried.

I would say its unlikely that the other components are damaged at least.

Resetted the jumper, but wouldn't help.

I do what Neg said tonight, but at the moment I'm pretty tired.
