| Post subject: | Budget GFX Upgrade |
I've gotten bored of console gaming again so I've decided it was about time I upgraded my gaming PC so that it'll cope with the latest games. So far I've replaced the PSU which blew with an Antec 400W PSU, thrown in another 2Gb RAM and replaced the aging, damaged heatsink to get everything running cool again. Next step is to upgrade my 8800GTS to something a bit beefier. Got a budget of around about £130 (give or take £20 or so depending on my beer consumption over the next couple of weeks.) Currently looking at this little beast http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showprodu ... =GX-259-SP as its been recommended by a couple of people as being about the best I can get for this budget. Anyone got any comments/recommendations? |

I heard nothing but good things on the GTX 460, you can pick one of them up fro about £130 now, maybe less. you can get the 750mb for a little less but the 1GB is well worth the money. Performance is apparantly very good for what was built as a budget card. |

Indeed, I have one and its the SE version, meaning less power consumption, should see if you have enough power, I have a 500W I don't know if I needed it, maybe it was just cheaper, anyways its an excellent card, Been playing everything maxed out |

Personally i'd go for evga as they are the official partners with nvidea and only work with their cards, but thats just personal preferance. |

That SE is quite a bit downclocked. What are the specs on your PSU? I may have a 5850 that I will let go cheap(ish) £90 delivered if you are interested. Being mucked around on ebay at the moment |

Just installed an Antec 400W 80+ Bronze High Current Gamer PSU. Rest of the system is.... Q6600 @ 3Ghz 4Gb DDR2 6400 Ram 1 DVDRW 1 HDD 8800GTS (for the time being) K3D. I might take you up on that offer if you're getting messed about. Assume its in full working order, all the packaging etc? Any chance you could link to it? |
