Well, huge problem(at least for me), I cant play TF2 anymore, its unbearable. Choke Choke and Choke. Its stuttering like hell and I dont know what to do anymore to fix it. I reinstalled TF2, seems to be even worse. I changed my router, the same. I tried different connections, Powerlan and Wifi, the same.

Playing DoD:Source I sometimes have chokebumps, jumping to -30-50 for a short time then going down to 0 again, but all with no stuttering at all.

Until I know what to do I guess I have to stop playing cause its no fun at all

Anyone have ANY ideas?

Are you experiencing this on all TF2 servers?

Some possibilities...

Something is stealing your bandwidth.
Download and run http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/sysi ... s/bb897437
Notice anything unusual? Check it while the issue is occurring.

Check your rates http://whisper.ausgamers.com/wiki/index ... ents_Choke

This may no longer apply but check this http://whisper.ausgamers.com/wiki/index ... e_solution

I tried but nothing did any good..still choke, even the tcp viewer only shows steam.

Shoudnt be cmdrate and updaterate 66(67) any good? Thats what I used to have..jesus, maybe I am just doing it wrong.

Try the default settings for a while, Fluff:

cl_cmdrate "30"
cl_updaterate "20"
cl_interp "0.1"
cl_interp_ratio "1"

I use different settings for a variety of servers, but always keep a rate value of 40000. I'll post them for reference, but don't even consider them if you're still getting choke at defaults.

6v6 settings
"cl_cmdrate 66; cl_updaterate 66;"
12v12 settings on a stable server
"cl_cmdrate 40; cl_updaterate 40"
Projectile classes & Medic
"cl_interp 0.025"
Hitscan classes
"cl_interp 0.0375"

Some of our servers have min cl_cmdrate and min cl_updaterate set at 66.. so if you just type into the console cl_cmdrate with no number you can see what you are being forced to.

I set me rate to 50000.

Try starting the game with -nosound in the launch options to see if its related to networkthrottling

Which servers does this apply to? Given performance issues the servers have at the moment, of what benefit could this be?

The normal "standard" stuff didnt work, it turned out to be a constant 30-40 choke ride.

Cmdrate and updaterate at 66 is playable, but with choke and choke spikes going to 40-50.

I also think the highest rate you can set on the server is 20000 if I remember it correctly.

So ... Idk what to do. Oh and -nosound did nothing.

These results are odd.

Can you post your autoexec & config? http://pastebin.com/

I've had problems with configs collecting data from POV files, or not updating correctly due to issues with Steam Cloud. I'm interested to see if there are any strange values.

I just played a couple of rounds on Uberium, testing out all my net settings, and the most choke I had was about 10 during mid-fights (even with 66,66). I then tried HH server 1 and defaults were acceptable for the most part, mid fights saw about 30-40 choke, and moving from area to area (like CP2 to last on Granary - just as you open the doors on the ground floor) saw a jump to 50-60 choke. The little timewarp lag spikes usually show a similar spike to about 50 choke. I didn't attempt anything more than the defaults on HH.

strange thing is all the stuff at the end which honestly idk if they are normal or fragments of old cfgs.

Oh and I have steam cloud sync turned off for tf2, ingame and in properties.
