Please no useless lol posts, I am very frustrated as it is.
Razer Megalodon Headset
I've been trying for over 5 hours now to get this goddamn thing working
So there I was, minding my own business. As I started to watch some South Park videos on their site (last SP season I saw was like, 4). After the second commercial the sound died out.
So I replugged the headset, didn't work.
I started to google it, look on Razer support and Micro$oft support. Nothing was close to useful or help my problems.
I uninstalled, reinstalled it. Didn't work.
I removed it the device manager place and installed it back in. Didn't work.
Restarted the computer. Didn't work.
Tried other USB ports, none worked.
I did nothing special today compared to any other day, it just went baff on me.
Sometimes, only the 7.1 lamp glows. When I plug it in it works for about 2-4 seconds before the headset dies again. The little console thingy attached to the headset "freezes", the sound level is unchangable and none of the buttons responds when you press them.
The "Default Audio" thingy seems to work when I start videos, but I have nothing connected to it.
The Headset itself have become "unidentified" to the computer. And after doing a disable > enable move, it gives the Error 10. And I looked it up but nothing helped. It just means "This USB device could not get detected"
So now I am getting desperate and is looking for help on the internet. Some guys here are really good with this tech stuff, so hopefully someone of you might have a clue. This headset was quite pricy and I've only had it for a year and a half.

Re: Headset died randomly today
Have you tried it on another PC yet?
Could be a wiring issue.. it's how most headsets eventually break. Has it been snagged recently or dropped etc etc?
Plugging into the old computer, it gives the "updating drivers" thing it does everytime you plug in the headset to a computer. Then everything works fine and dandy without me having to do anything but to put the USB into the computer.
On my own one, I plugg it in, it doesn't respond randomly, sometimes I have to replugg a couple of times before it reads it. Then it dies after two seconds or something. The headset and it's little control pad still glows but the control pad is completely unresponsive once it "dies".
I just got this error: Windows has stopped this device because it has reported problems. (Code 43)
So, by the looks of it. My windows on my own computer is booting away my Razer Headset, for whatever magical reason. As I have done no windows thing for months. I have not changed a single setting on my computer until this happen.
I find it REALLY strange why it does this, after 1½ year of working just fine.

Re: Headset died randomly today
Try getting the latest USB driver/inf for your motherboard chipset
Remove everything under Universal Serial Bus controllers in device manager then install the usb driver. Reboot and see how that goes.
You may have problems using a mouse whilst doing this. You can open up a command prompt and drag the usb install program to the black window, all you will need to do then is hit enter.
This would be my first point of attack. Make sure you do not have any unecessary USB devices plugged in for testing purposes.
Whelp, I did as you told me to K3D. The sound once again only lasted for about 3 seconds before it died on me once more.
I appreciate your help, I really do. This computer seems to have some kind of dumb reasoning as to why the sound shouldn't be allowed to go through my headset, even when it's set as Default.
I started a video. In the bottom right corner for sound. The sound meter is definitely going up and down. Even with the headset being "dead". No sound to my headset, but at least the computer is aware it's making sounds...
If it's to any help. This is the headset in picture so you guys understand what I mean when I say "The sound control" thingy (The square looking thing): http://www2.razerzone.com/Megalodon/
I had apps before that changed my default mic/headset gear to other devices. Maybe worth a checking your playback devices. Can be accessed via control panel or right clicking volume control and going to playback devices.

Nope not that, I have only the Razer and the High Definition Device Audio Speakers (The default red and green colored 3.5mm slots on the computer) there.
