Post Give Tram a new engine baby, he wanna choo choo at maximum!
Space Marine around the corner.

I want top performance from it >:C

I currently have an issue that I have had with THQ games since Dawn of War 2. I get this "choppy/repeating" sound and static noise. It's only with their games tho, and yes I have updated my soundcard.

So, I guess there's something in my kit that's slightly outdated. (Aslo the USB ports are starting to get worn out by the looks of it)

My rig:

Intel Core Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66 GHz (2 CPUs) ~ 2.7 GHz
6 GB RAM
GTX 260
A 300 GB Harddrive in C
And a 700 GB Harddrive in D (I store my videos and singleplayer games in this one)

Not sure where I can find all my specs, but I really want this sound issue solved and I can't seem to find other people having an issue with said sounds. I have "Realtek High Definition Audio" soundcard thingy.

I am willing to spend up to 10,000 SEK. Or the equivalent to roughly €1000 or £900. But I really wish to spend as little as possible and just upgrade what I have.

Thanks for the help!

Can say straight away that it is your soundcard causing the problems. I used a similar sort of Realtek product at first and had nothing but problems with many different games. Since getting a proper soundcard everything has been fine.

Hope someone with a bit more tech knowledge can help you out with any build upgrade. Just wanted to say that your sound probs should go immediately if you drop the Realtek and get a decent soundcard. :)

As I'm posting from the beach I can't open up loads of links and provide them to you, but I suggest going one thread down and seeing what Bolt is going to do for his upgrade and consider that as the way forward.

Ntrailz is right about the sound card tho, realtek is a nightmare when it goes wrong!

hmm for choppy sound it might be worth checking if ffdshow/ffdaudio isnt trying to take over your games audio playback - this has hit me on fallout before. If you've installed the cccp/k-lite or other codec bundles youll probably have ffd in there somwhere.

As for the upgrade option I'd head right over to asus and look at their xonar kit, they cater for most needs and they actually update their drivers unlike creative [strangle]
