I think the only way to copy a video file to a PS3 is to put it on a FAT32 USB stick and copy it across directly, no copying over the network. You can't take the HDD out and plug it into a PC and transfer the files directly either as it uses a proprietary encrypted filesystem. There might be a solution with a jailbreak but you'd need a PS3 on firmware 3.55 or below (no downgrade possible on later firmwares unless you want to crack it open and do some soldering). If you're playing copied Blu-Rays you should research the 'Cinavia' DRM, it was introduced in the last couple of years and turns off the sound after a few minutes when it's detected a non-genuine disc. Apparently its especially problematic on the PS3 but it's on several other players as well ... I don't know of any easy ways of bypassing it for a full copy of a Blu-Ray. edit - not all Blu-Rays seem to have Cinavia, Shrek 4 doesn't at least. |

Your TV seems to use bluetooth signalling for syncing the 3D so I am not 100% sure the maplins ones will work with the latest samsung 3d tv's |

wow, so that 160gb is pretty much only for what they tell you you can use it for? lol there was i thinking i would own something i pay money to purchase.if its not as simple as i previously thought, the media pc may be the way forward. thanks for the heads up there k3d, i would have probably made an expensive mistake there with assuming universal meant just that. ffs this 3d thing is such a load of horse shit. seems the tech is there but the conformity and standardization is a while off |

i've recently purchased a PS3 (brand new, slim version) and you can copy videos to the HD over the network on mine. |

thank god for that, the price for making a media center pc capable of good 1080p is well over the £150 for a ps3. its pretty much a done deal then. if and when i do want to play any 3d i think think it wold be far far easier to just move the pc downstairs and link it up with the TV. iv had a look for 3d drivers and found this http://www.iz3d.com/ looks promising
ill have a play with it and post what the tv says. i still dont have the active shutter glasses so wont know 100% but i should be able to tell if it works or not |

what we do is fairly low tech.. stick the film files on a large memory stick and pop that in the usb slot on your TV (most modern ones have them). We have a Samsung HD LED tv and its capable of playing any file type we've thrown at. I assume a 3D tv would be the same. edit - oh you are talking about games etc? sorry skimmed thread so above comment probably no help =) |
