Had to set up a new system for my dad's office and the MSI mobo has a via soundcard thingy. Anyway the interface beats me. I tried to plug in my headphones and the driver is picking em up as speakers. I don't understand half the things on there.
This experience reminded me how much I love Realtek.
I'd really love to have the driver recognise my haedphones properly (also the front panel doesn't work )
Anyways here's some screenshots:
Thx. in advance

I managed to make only the green jack from the front panel work. The mic one still doesn't work. Also if I connect my headphones to the back they're recognized as speakers but when I connct them to the front they are suddenly headphons.

Re: VIA HD audio driver is giving me a bad time
The only reason they are getting known as headphones is because thats what it thinks the front panel is used for.
There is no way it can identify what type of speaker it is sending audio to.
If I remember correctly under advanced you can specify what each jack does.
Not really. The front jack section doesn't even light up when I plug in the headphones. The things is that I managed to make both the headphones and the mic work but using the back panel. Using the front panel I only managed to make the headphones work.
I enabled front panel detection and it doesn't change anything. I even searched in the BIOS for this option but I couldn't find it.
I will uninstal and reinstal the drivers and see if this works.
