You could get a great custom built tower for that kinda lolly, and it'd be better. Just saying |

I'm guessing you're getting a laptop cause you need to lug it around, perhaps between home and uni? That was my reasoning, and I would have been better off with a desktop PC and a cheap laptop I can carry on the train home. |

Never ever buy a "gaming" laptop, there is no such thing (except you want to pay extra $$$ for something which is much cheaper @ desktop version) "Gaming" laptops either fry your balls or they cost a shitton of money to repair if something goes wrong. (like killing the GPU). Stick with desktop version + cheap working laptop. |

A lot are recommending a desktop pc and with great reasoning, am on a gaming desktop know and its great but getting old due to recent games as my pc is lagging out like crazy so think am in need of an upgrade. Had this one for many years and only just getting outdated. shame really but would love a new one that's gonna last for at least 3 - 5 years after purchase. |

Better to upgrade your existing desktop really. What are your specs? No need to throw away the case and PSU, at the very least. If you get a laptop it'll be out of date quicker, with very limited scope for upgrades, and the GPU will have limited support from game developers compared to its desktop counterpart. |

Currently got a Radeon HD 5700, 4GB Ram, 500Gb hard drive, and an Intel i5 processor. |

Need a couple more specs: what CPU exactly (e.g. 2500k), what make and model of motherboard, what model and wattage of PSU. Is it a self-build? Or is it from a manufacturer like Dell? |

Apologies. CPU is 650 @ 3.20GHz - 3.19GHz not sure on power supply can't remember al have to check that later. and its from a company that self built it for me, as 4 years ago i was lazy and didn't have a clue. And my motherboard is exactly the following. Ultra Durable 3 classic P55-US3L 2oz Copper PCB 50,000 hr. japanese solid cap. DuelBIOS CPU VRM Hope that's what you wanted. |
