Don't these things slow down gaming performance? That's why I avoid them
I used to have the whole Stardock package. WindowBlinds, Icon Packager etc etc. The whole works. It was expensive tho, needing an annual sub but certainly did not slow my system down. The only bad things were the subscription and un-installing left me with a bare-bones desktop that didn't even have the defauls XP theme. It looked more like Windows 3.11
The Alienware one is the only one I use now. I especially like the Media Player skins that come with it
Pshh, 1024 x 768 ftw! And yes, frankly it's a mess and bland, but thats the way I like it (#uh huh uh huh#). I used to do the whole desktop enhancement thing, now I just use it dump stuff when I'm moving files about.

Re: Post Your Desktop
Supposedly windowblinds speeds up your windows performance. As Mad found it replaces most of the core components of xp skins.been using it for about 3 or 4 years. One time payment of $20 so far. I'm running 5 i think there's been a few updates since but the skins seem backwards compatible. Any one interested can get a free months trial from stardock.
As far as effecting games performance i never noticed anything. As long as you've got plenty of ram available your windows memory will remain in the ram rather than being put into virtual memory (page file). meaning alt tabing in and out work properly.
That alienware skin looks cool does it come with all the widgets your desktop shows? Might give it a try.
