Here's a rule: No one makes a joke about my signature!

I think we've done pretty well over the last 7 years with the rules that we've had. In most cases common sense* applies, and when it doesn't and an admin makes a reasonable request or enforcement, then that should be acknowledged and the discussion should move on.

* that's still a thing, right?
