Copland. Kept meaning to watch it. Finally get round to it at 1:40 in the morning. Wasn't expecting such an understated performance from Sly. |

Waltz with Bashir. Cos I am a hip indy fag that sips Starbucks while talking about how alternative I am. I give it a...8 out of 10, maybe a 9 if I am in a really good mood. Story moves along nicely, some really nice moments and it treated War with such impartiality. None of this Hollywood explosions are cool shit, none of this Jew=good Arab=bad bs either. It just tells a story and its message is all the more powerful for not forcing it down your throat. Go buy it if you can spare a buck (or 12.99). |

Watched three movies in three days just now. The Wrestler (2008) Though I'm not usually that much into this drama stuff this movie was quite good. I was somewhat a wrestling fan when I was younger so that might've affected on my opinion a bit but there where a lot of solid performances and the script was good. How to Lose Friends & Alienate People (2008) Didn't like it much. The humor was somewhat a mixed pile of forced gags with some good ones and those worked only because Simon Pegg was in it. I always feel ashamed on behalf of the actors in these kind of movies so I can't laugh at them. Jeff "The Dude" Bridges rocked as always though. Escape from New York (1981) An oldie but goodie, had seen this before but didn't remember much of it, except that Snake Plissken is one of the most badass movie 'heros' of all time. |

Transformaz: ROBOTS IN DISGUYS Thank god the Autobots have lots of guns because they are shit at this whole disguise lark. I dunno why Bay sees the need to have his name in big bold letters at the beginning of the film. He didn't need to do much work. Unlike Mr McCGI. He made the real sacrifice for this movie. He didn't have a wife to go back to afterwards because she had gone off with a guy whose occupation didn't require him to be chained to a PC. Its Mr McCGI name that should be first on the credits because all this movie is a long and very impressive special effects fest. Oh, also a ludicrously tanned Megan Fox. She spends the whole movie covered in sweat. Her name should be second in the credits. Yeah, so this movie ticks two boxes. Hot chick and awesome SFX. |

Saw Transformers 2 a few hours ago. I think that most people whose opinions I've read or seen have gone to see the sequel of a slightly thin plotted, action packed prequel with completely wrong mood or state of mind. I mean it's a sequel to a live action movie based on toys of two robot factions in a war and seems that they where expecting some oscarworthy acting from the human actors and a script that somehow can explain everything that happens and has no holes in it. I went to see it expecting a lot of action and some Megan Fox fanservice and that's pretty much what I got. There where some unnecessary comic relief characters that shouldn't have been there and the movie was a bit too long but those didn't bother me that much. I still think that it would've made a lot better movie actionwise if they had made more clearer action scenes between the robots themselves and took it off from the lenght of the movie. I mean some action scenes where a clusterfuck of metallic objects that you just couldn't follow because the camera was so close, shaking all around and some of the robots didn't have distinctive color features. I had a difficult time distincting different decepticons from each other, ie. in the end I mixed up starscream and megatron and didn't figure them out till at the moment they transformed. Anyway, it was a satisfying movie. Not as good as the first one but it was what you'd expect from a summer blockbuster. On a side note, Peter Cullen saying "I - am Optimus Prime" sounds friggin' awesome. |
