Been having Internet problems lately, something that have occurred regularly sadly.
I must admit, i really feel annoyed when i call the supporters. I know i know, they must of course expect the customer to know nothing.
But still i try to give a lot of hints of my technical knowledge, and once again i found out that i knew a lot more than him. So i tried to tell him that i wanted to talk to a technician, but he insisted he should figure out the problem so that he could inform the technician of the problem. Allright. He runs alot of procedures, that does not fit with my system - apparently Vista Ultimate 64 bit is so rare, that it doesn't fit with their procedures - and comes to a really wrong conclusion.
Conclusion: I am using two netcards for Internet connection, each receiving a different IP address, one of which is not registered with its MAC address.
What a load of crap I use one netcard for Internet connection, and it is registered. The other netcard is used for my Xbox 360 for watching movies etc...
Anyway, had a laugh of that with the technician when he finally called, and i got my Internet working. And as i suspected there is nothing wrong with my settings - and error on their part that cannot really be fixed. However, the technician was so kind to tell me, unofficially, how i bypass the system that has the error, so hopefully i will be without problems anymore (Its the DHCP server - I'm just using manual configuration now, instead of requesting an IP, simple...)
Any of you had similar experience with 'em buggers? I mean, supporters always laugh of customers stupidity. But i feel i often laugh, often pretty sad and angry, of them.
Re: Finally my Internet works - damn them supporters!
Not as technically knowledgable as yourself, but even I know more than the bloke on the other end the phone most of the time.
They usually try and sell you a different package, not help you.

Nah its something called Arrownet.
Talked with a friend who works at another company, and he's been fiddling with Arrownets hardware when they bought some areas from them. Seems like their servers simply aren't setup for the task, so their lazy servers can take hours assigning IP addresses and what not :\
The support blows big time though :S Next time I'll insist i want a technician
(Danish company, for poor students like me - half priced Internet if you study)

While we're on the subject... My contract with BT will be up soon (yey!) and I'd like something with a little more 'juice' next time round- any reccomendations that won't totally break my bank?
Think im paying about £16 a month right now- but I live up on a hill with crappy old lines so not sure how fast things could actually get. My TF2 ping ranges between 30-50 right now, which is fine... But downloads are a differnet story- <200kbps on my good machine, and about half that on the secondary rig that i usually use for downloads. Line test is about 2mbit and the deal was 'as close to 8mbit' as they could get.. hmm, good old BT eh?

Because it probably is...With your location chances of line update is minimal...im on aol 8mb at £15 a month... Just wait for them to ring and see about renewing contract...when they do say you want cheaper..because they want to tie you down for another load of money...
