Are you getting the full broadband speed as advertised by your provider? Or are the getting away with murder via the "up to" smallprint loophole. i.e "up to 4mb" when your actually only getting around 2mb. Today I recieved my free Virgin Media speed upgrade (from 4mb to 10mb) and decided to test it out. The result is pretty near the mark so I'm well chuffed.

Go to http://www.speedtest.net/ Select your nearest test server (highlighted in orange on the map) after the test a new screen appears with your result and forum link to show your result (see below).

not so good as i pay for up too 8mb! glad virgin are bringing 100mb via fiber optic to glasgow next year

I m working on an ISP and it wont be fair to post those results... ill do it when i go home

I'm paying for 20mb so not great...pretty good tho...plus the cost for that 20mb is split between 6 ppl (student house) so it's a good deal

I pay around £5 per month. The next option they tell me is to upgrade to 8 Megs, which apparently is the current max for me.
