Bulletproof skin: Human cells reinforced with spider silk
Maximum Armor
What if your skin could resist a speeding bullet? Now a new futuristic tissue designed by artist Jalila Essaïdi, which reinforces human skin cells with spider silk, can stop a whizzing projectile without being pierced. Although its threads may look fragile, a spider-silk weave is four times stronger than Kevlar, the material used in bulletproof vests.

millions of years of evolution > couple 1000 of human innovation.
Bulletproof skin sounds pretty far fetched, but perhaps bullet proof/resistant lightweight clothing isn't so far away. The problem as usual is a supply of spider silk.
Re: Bulletproof skin: Human cells reinforced with spider silk
The supply of spider silk is not a problem. Genetically modified goats have been created which produce large quantities of a spider silk. The transplanted gene means the a goat produces milk containing an extra protein, which is extracted and spun into spider silk thread.
