Hey guys, I was lucky enough to physically go and see a few of the open door's events in London, and a couple of rowing events over at Eaton Dorney, I loved every second of it and when I was not attending I was glued to the TV.
I'm actually quiet sad by the whole affair now it's over because iv'e experienced nothing like it in my life time, and I most likely never will ever again. The entire UK being unified for our athletes competing under the same flag is something I was really happy to see. I'm quiet touched and proud at what we managed to pull off in the end, congrats to everyone from all walks of life and all nationalities that took part and made the games such a wonderful experience.
I'm shattered this morning, but watching the closing ceremony last night was jolly entertaining. Best bits - Eric Idle and Freddie Mercury.

Re: London olympics
I watched pretty much every minute of it from day one. Loved every second. Best bits of the olympics for me were Wiggo winning the time trial and Mo winning the 5000 and 10000 metres. So sad it's over

Fr3ddi3 I was at Dorney on the 7th, when did you go?
I'm sad that Canada won 18 medals but only one was gold. Both ceremonies were very good, I'm going to go re-watch the Vancouver 2010 ones and compare haha, I remember the atmosphere of the presentation being less celebratory and more subtly awe-inspiring.
Got to go to the park to see some hockey (not due to to work tho Sarge) and the atmosphere was amazing.
Really jealous those as my other half went to the mens 10k swim and somehow managed to get tickets / seats with the teams and was surrounded by Team GB, Australia and Canada - suffice to say she got lots of pics of them all especially when the Oz guys were a bit hot in the sun and stripped off...
So trying to get tickets to the paralympics now, would love cycling or basketball...

Re: London olympics
One of many highlights...
I thought the whole event was absolutely amazing. I loved the opening ceremony and I'm so glad Underworld didn't disappoint with the soundtrack (big fan here). Caliban's Dream seems so appropriate now having listened to it again. And the torch design was so original in it's design and application.
(Wall of text coming up, apologies in advance...)
Highlights for me include Mo winning double gold and breaking the African monopoly on middle distance running, David Rudisha for absolutely nailing the 800 and emerging as a future Kenyan superstar, Jess Ennis and Sir Chris Hoy proving you can be successful in your chosen discipline and still be incredibly likeable individuals, Katie Taylor and the amazing atmosphere at the ExCel, the Dutch women's hockey team for existing at all, the beautiful and iconic venues, the support from the spectators and volunteers especially for the open events like the marathon and triathlon, the Dutch women's hockey team, Vicky Pendleton saying an emotional goodbye to competitive cycling and the emergence of Laura Trott as her successor, Sue Barker's tan, that weird one-eyed mascot and finally the fact that everyone seemed to be having a good time, be they athletes or spectators. Oh, and the Dutch women's hockey team.
An honourable mention to the GB men's discus thrower Lawrence Okoye, who in his qualifying round almost killed two photographers with his first throw out of bounds and then set a new British record with his last.
I hope everyone from outside GB enjoyed it as much as we did - Bejing was a tough act to follow but I thought London 2012 was great.
Apart from Jessie J who absolutely butchered a Queen classic. And no live Bowie, those were the only downers for me.
