Post Felix Baumgartner's 23 mile freefall attempt - 09.10.12
Today is the day that a man will jump out of a balloon at 120,000ft, accelerate beyond 690mph and hopefully land with all his bits intact.

Good luck Felix you nutter...:D

Good luck to the guy, really hope he makes it in one piece, a lot of unknowns riding on this as well as making history.

'Today's mission aborted due to gusty winds'

Who is Gusty Winds and why has he done this?

Oh well, hopefully conditions tomorrow will be OK.

In the meantime here is some footage of the previous highest jump - Joe Kittinger and his massive cojones jumping from 102,800ft. :D

Well it looks like this is a go and he's on his way, not sure what time he is expected to land so all the best on a potential record breaking descent.

Well that was exhilarating and terrifying at the same time - he looked like he was in serious trouble when he was spinning at the start of the jump and there were some very serious faces in that control room, but he managed to land safely and intact. :D

How anyone can survive falling at 833.9 mph in just a pressure suit is amazing.

Welcome back to terra firma Felix! [beer]

I had a surplus of adrenaline, and I was only watching!

The tumbling was quite scary, but I wondered if it was deliberate as after he'd regained control they were talking about how he'd decelerated.

If his book isn't called 'The Man Who Fell From Space' I'll be very disappointed.

There was a headline in one of the Czech tabloids claiming he surpassed the speed of light. :D

I was watching it live. I couldn't jump from 10 meters in the water (just like Mr. Bean at the swimming pool :D). Damn, but it was a nice view.

In denmark there was a headliner saying "if red bull gives you wings, this must be the downside when the effect wears off"
