Hey guys,

What, if any, considerations do you have about players from 'outside' who don't play by the 'be nice' rules.

For instance I'm currently on a server who has consistently been abusive, rude and has, just now, wished someone elses parents would die of aids.

His behaviour has been, in my eyes, appalling (and not in the least because i've been the target of most of his ire).

How can we go about complaining about people like this? (Rare though they are on the HH servers)

Name and shame him mate. Try and give us his Steam Id if you can.

Also, in future, try and do a condump. this basically records any typed insults that emanate. All you do is open console and type condump. It will make text file in the TF2 directory of everything that was displayed on the console since the game start up. Used with status, it can give you all the info we need.

Oh do you mean Prince what was his name?
That was really something I dont want to experience again.

I'm out of game now so can't condump, and unfortunately there weren't any other regs on Dustbowl when he was at his worst. (Yes, he was worse than he was when you were on Agent. Imagine...but then most of it was directed at me at the time so i'm bound to be slightly biased).

I wouldn't normally raise this kind of thing as I find abuse over the anonymity of the internet to be mostly pathetic, but I realise that HH are trying to build a community and something that's relatively child / young person friendly. Lawks, I'm coming over all civic responsibility. How middle class!

also have a look if any clan members are online in steam, or failing that, have a look in the irc room. hopefully someone will be around to jump in and ban them.

Yeah, there weren't any clan members on my steam friends list online at the time. Good point about the irc room though.. I shall bear that in mind if there is a next time (and hopefully there won't be).

So, to summarise what's been said in a potentially 'official' procedure:

If there's no admin (Clan member) ingame:
1) See if there's an admin online (H|H <name here> rather than <name here> @ H\H) and if there is ask them for assistance.

If there's no admins online:
1) Get the Steam ID of the offender
2) Get a 'condump' of the steam console to create a record of the issue.
3) Check the IRC room to see if there's anyone lurking there.
4) Let an admin know the details from 1 and 2.
5) ??
6) Profit!

Do you want a policy of 'naming and shaming' (which may not always be the best) or would a 'dealing with it via PM' policy be more appropriate?
