Right. 2 weeks ago I moved to a new apartment with my girlfriend. We moved our internet connection with us, but I couldn't get it to work. The DSL light/Internet light on the router was flashing red. After trying to set it up, accessing the router through the computer, it kept saying that it didn't recieve any signal from the phoneplug on the wall. I called my ISP support to get some help with it. He told me to reset and all the standard stuff. But it didn't work after the reset either. He then told me that he would order a technician to get it fixed. However, if the technician can't find a problem, it will cost around £70.

Today the techguy arrived and he checked the plug on the wall and all that. Apparently, the connection didn't have any problems. This conversation began.

"The plug seems fine. Did you reset it?"
"Yeah, I've tried to reset it a few times. Tried with different cables as well"
"That's odd. It doesn't seem faulty"
*Techguy looks at the router*
"The cable is plugged into the phone port. It needs to be plugged in to the DSL port"

At that moment, I wanted to bang my head against a brick wall. Fortunately, the techguy was very kind and just smiled at it. I did get to pay £70 for being, indirectly, told that I'm an idiot.

To top it all off, I work in techsupport myself.
