Post Olympic flame in London
What a joke! :?
I have no scruples with the protesters. I mean, I understand what they are doing. Unfortuntely interrupting it physically is the only way people would take any notice these days.
But wth's going on with the authorities even attempting the run in the first place? You look at the massive amount of police, you can't even see the person holding the flame. It's all been a bit heavy handed. You've got 20+ coppers jumping on someone with a fire extinguisher.
:(

Ok, as I see it, the protesters are very much justified in thier actions. Chinas treatment of the Tibetan people is totally abhorrent and should be condemned by the international community. Unfortunately, as usual money takes preference. China is experiencing it's industrial revolution and that means big money making opportunities for the rest of the world so, rather than upset China, the televised slaughter in the streets of the TIbetan (and indeed the Chinese) peolpe goes ignored. It's obvious to me that the over zealous actions of our authorities in it's handling of these protests is purely to save face with China and secure our money opportunities. Had the killings been perpetrated by another country like North Korea or Iran for example, the whole world would have shouted to the rafters about it instead of remaining shtum. If I had my way the sporting community would see sense and refuse to go anywhere near China.

Thought the Olympics was about the world getting together for a sports competition not protesting.
Seriously theres a time and a place for it but in all honesty is the Olympics the place? Personally I don't think so.

If you have a point to make, make it where it has the biggest impact :)

Exactly right Eion. If the organisers were so determined to keep politics out of the olympic torch procession, why did they take it through Downing Street and hand the torch over to Gorgon Brown?

Ok my opinions changed. :P

But I still think that the biggest impact wouldn't have been made this late on. Why not earlier?
And alot of the people tend to be following the celebs imho.
