After looking through the list of new medic achievments, most of them will be easy to get (in fact, I think I'd have all but 1 so far).

The one that'll be the pain is 10,000,000 total healed.

After 150 hours of playing medic I'm just shy of 6 mill, so by my calculations it'll take around another 2 months of solid medicing to get this.

However........

I had an idea that could speed it up for anyone that was interested. (As long as it was approved by the admins of course)

One of the servers could host 2fort with unlimited time and lock it down for the night.

Anyone that wanted to get their healing total up could go as medic and jump in the water where we all heal each other to stop us drowning. Set mediguns to heal without having to hold fire button and stay in game overnight.

Not sure of the exact numbers regarding healing per second but I think an 8 hour stretch would bag at least a million HP.

i.e. If we assume that the medigun heals 50HP/sec then

50*60=3000HP/min
3000*60=180,000/hour


So for an 8 hour period 1,440,000HP could be healed (slightly less if healing a medic due to his natural regen of 1HP/second).

What would the admins think about one of the servers being used for this?

Stats padding mate, no thanks, the achievmenst are meant to show skill by that you are cheating them i can say ive only got 5.3 million healed in 170 hours it will taek me 300 hours to get it so what i get a new syringe gun very exciting.

You goingt o ask for the kill 5 people whilst you are uber ready one as well

Just figured that this achievement is gonna bugs loads of medics out there that have put in plenty of time and are still nowhere near the 10 Mill mark.

I've got no experience of admining a server so I don't know how practical it would be to set up but the servers are idle for good 8 hours every night/morning (2-10 ish) and my Mum always told me "if you don't ask, you don't get".

Regardless of my stats, which aren't even necessary to mention.

What is the point in cheating? Because what you are suggesting is cheating an achievement and nothing more or less than that.

Without getting too heavy (excuse the pun), but did your Mum tell you that asking for help cheating in public was a good thing too?

My suggestion... Play the game. Have some principles. Earn it.

To be honest, I find all this faux morality about stats padding to be churlish in the extreme, not to mention irrelevant when it comes to TF2. I mean, this isn't CSS or BF2, who cares about stats? Besides, I've paid for this game so I don't see why I shouldn't get to enjoy all aspects of it.

Yeah, the achievements in general are meant to reward skill, and as I said before, all apart from the one in question I would have already. I'm happy to get these again coz they're just things that I'll pick up as I play my natural game anyway. But 10,000,000 total healed has nothing to do with skill. It's a grind, nothing more nothing less. If I wanted to grind I'd play an MMO.

If the admins don't want to see the servers used for this then fair enough, its your call. But banging on about cheating and statspadding is just BS tbh.

Now now kids let's not get silly. Jesus read it back mate it does sound sort of funny. 3 medics flooting around in a pond for 8 hours healing it does paint a silly picture and you would not want to watch the video.

I don't see it as cheating because to cheat you have to be cheating someone which your not.

I done something like is myself to get the 10 sg kills I think Dan helped me and I did feel bad once I had done it because then I stoped playing eng and never really got any better at playing eng if I had not of "cheated" I bet you now I would have been a better engineer because of it.

Plus to make things worst I got 11 kills with sg last week on badlands so I would have got it in the end which would have meant more.

It is statspadding, your amount healed is stats then achivments just read the stats you are wanting to build these up by doing something that is "unhelpful gameplay" and you are getting "undeserving" points.

I think the key point here Ares is game mechanics.

The game mechanics of BF2 and TF2 are totally different in regards to unlocks.

In BF2 most of the unlocks are better than the stock weapons. Therefore stats padding was rife because it did actually incur an ingame advantage.

Also, the game itself is all based around ranks so some players would "point push" in order to make them look to be a better player.

Players would do this in public servers (as a min player count was required for stats to be recorded) and ruin the game for everyone.

I am totally against this for obvious reasons.

What I was suggesting (although due to Gimpster's reasoned argument I am now not) does not incur an ingame advantage as new weapons will not be more powerful, does not ruin the game for anyone else and is not intended to make me appear to be a better player than I am.

I can't see the point myself, if you play medic alot you will get the achievement and use the gun, if you don't play medic much unlocking it makes no sense as it'll never be used.
I admit 10,000,000 sounds a hell of a lot but i still remember when bf2 came out and i never thought it posible to play enough to get the gold awards, now i have pretty much all of them except the vehicle ones and engineer. i think i've spent 400hrs alone on karkand and it's still not boring.

Be patient the reward will be so more satisfying in the end!
