If you could ask him if he could get just OEM NVidia graphics cards, I'd probably be interested. I doubt it, though, but it's worth a punt. Specifically, I'm looking for 8800's for under £100 (ideally)

You can get a 512mb 8800gt or 9800gt from lots of places lower than £100
Play have a 9800gt for £90 inc delivery and dabs have one for approx £92 exc delivery.

Re: DELL XPS Gaming PC's
Tekheads are the cheapest for 9800GT's at £78 incl VAT.
If you specifically need the 8800 for any reason remember you can just bios flash the 8800GT bios to the 9800GT - its the same card and gpu.
Minty I take it thats a typo in your original post? Should be quad core at 2.67ghz? Thats if its the QX6700. I dont think there is a 3.67ghz quad core yet and Dell arent in the business of overclocking .
Good pre-built system, shouldnt have any trouble running anything out at the moment even in Full HD. Only downside I can see is the lack of SLI profiles for the 8xxx series cards. Plenty for 9 series tho - typical Nvidia. As always bit of a price premium for brand/warranty, but the discount makes it a much more reasonable amount. Image people actually paid £3k for the same machine that can be sold for ~£2k. Shows you how much Dell make!
If anyone buys one let us know how you find it! Way out of my price range im afraid .

I must be blind because I can only see 9800gt from £88.99.
That site really needs some prettying up, the component navigation looks like web circa 1998.

PiLsY.... any flashy flashes for my GTX's? Surely mines the same chip too just more SP's and speed? (they are factory oc'd though)
Also thats a mean price for that laptop! Although Im not buying now i wonder what your friends prices are like on his high end desktop machines?
this dude doesnt have anything awesome sweet in the 800-1000 range does he?
or alternatively a really really cheap basic PC for under 200? (this pc isnt a gaming one. purely a machine for my neighbour to scan photos and use teh interweb) just want it with xp and not sodding vista

Re: DELL XPS Gaming PC's
Fair play Minty - didnt think Dell promoted it at all let alone sold pre-overclocked. I stand corrected .
QX9650 is a quad - retails at around £350 iirc so thats a good system there for the money considering its a branded build.
Khola afaik its only the newer 8800gt's that have the same core as 9800's as then use the g92 core or something where the gtx's which are older use the older core not sure of its name though
Atleast thats my grasp of it

Re: DELL XPS Gaming PC's
Yeah totally different Khola mate .
You have G80 core whilst the 8800GT + 9800GT (112 shaders)/ 8800GTS + 9800GTX (128 shaders) use G92 and can be flashed with each others bios. TBH though you get no performance at all, its more so the older 8 series cards can use the more up to date 9 series SLI profiles. Theres really no other reason to bother.
