Last night, Dirty Jesus, NTrailZ and I were playing on one of the HH versus servers. The rest of the server was filled up with random players. One such player was able to change the difficulty of versus mode in-game, seemingly through some kind of exploit. He would change the difficulty to easy when he was playing as a survivor, and change it to expert when playing as the infected.
We knew that he had changed the difficulty as the standard vote result box popped up, saying 'vote passed', followed by some random characters (instead of the name of the difficulty). By checking through Steam Friends, it was possible to determine exactly which difficulty it had been changed to.
I checked through the admin options, but couldn't see any way to change the difficulty back to the default. The difficulty did, however, revert back to the default once each stage had been completed by both teams.
So - does anyone know anything about this? Ever seen it before? Also, is there a way for the admins to change the difficulty if it happens again?
I noticed it on another dedicated server i have full admin access to, was playing on a normal map and voted to put difficulty on the hardest, then changed to a versus map by mistake and the difficulty stayed on extreme. So its deffinatly possible to do, cant think of a way round it besides checking for the cvar every so often.
- Only the team the player belongs to (survivor/infected) can participate in a vote. The command is typically unavailable in the gui, but can be accessible via console.
So this is an issue that valve will hopefully fix so any time wanks do this youll just have to change it back if you can.

I did actually ban the person that was doing it last night. However, someone who I suspected to be the same individual (albeit with a different username) came back onto the server and did it one last time before the campaign ended. They had the same avatar. The first username was aBr.
Snatchers did a little investigation, and found out the console command to change the difficulty (z_difficulty). He then went in-game to test it out, and discovered that he couldn't change the difficulty from the client console - which raises certain questions as to how this person was able to change it on the HH server. Also, he found out that there is some kind of script which gives the user admin rights, and prevents them from being banned. It's possible this person was using such a script.
And they say that they've made finding specific ded servers more easier when in lobby.
