As you may or may not know, I love a good game of versus. Like most people I enjoy playing as infected the most. I love the dark sense of satisfaction I get as I down or kill a survivor That said, I've found myself playing it less and less. I've stopped playing on random servers completely now. It's all due to what some describe as "valid tactics" but personally I see as complete lameness. You know the sort of things I'm talking about... Triggering crescendo events then running off to a cupboard to spam your way to victory, retreating to corners/cuppboards in finales depriving the infected team any decent spawns of routes of attack etc etc etc While I can see that if you're playing L4D in a competetive league/ladder, your team is going to use every advantage available that is within the rules, this sort of approach on public servers only removes the fun for the infected and the need for skill for the survivors. If you play as intected first and your opponents use these strats, you're forced to either play "properly" and lose or descend to the same level of cheapness if you want a chance of winning Only a short while ago, the HH versus servers were a haven away from this lameness, now it seems to be just as rampant here as anywhere else. Personally, I'd like to see the rules changed to remove this kind of thing. To me its in the same realm as sticky camping a single exit spawn in TF2, only a lot more gamechanging. I'd be interested to hear what people think about this..... |

Hahhah! Nice one Fluffy. Agree with Jesus though, that really is laming and I try to avoid doing it myself everytime I play. |

There aint nothing wrong with hiding in a corner, ive found standing in the middle of the map on events quite unsuccessful, mebbe try playing with a better infected team |

I think this is the inherent problem of Left 4 Dead, it doesn't survive being played by competent, logical gamers. The most fun I had in Left 4 Dead was in the demo, when nobody knew the optimal way to kill a tank and everyone shit themselves when they saw a witch. Sadly getting better at Left 4 Dead just makes the game duller, there are less variables to consider, less possibilities and few amusing situations present themselves. If you pick any weapon other than the autoshotgun you are just handicapping yourself, there is no ambiguity to it. Valve would need to double the amount of content in the game to make it worth playing, right now it's nothing more than an occasional distraction. I still like throwing up on people though. |

The corner camping isn't so much of a problem anymore I dont find since melee exhaustion was introduced. Just plan your attacks more carefully when they are swamped, reloading and having to use their melee on the horde, that way you can get in easy. Also autoshotguns aren't the be all and end all of versus that they where anymore since the damage to tank nerf and now with the melee exhaustion it means you are far more vulnerable if you get caught short reloading. Auto's and sniper don't have this limitation. There are a few spots however that could be deemed too good though yes I agree, but there are ways around it imo in all but the tightest closet. |

Well only all 4 in a small cupboard qualifies as lame/cheap for me, not an open corner. Should be allowed in coop and survival but not vs. |

Yeah thats my view on it, if its spoils the fun of others then its a no no, doesent put up a good impression of us either, camping a corner can be really bad though if its really open, as you cant get near it at all as boomer or tank and they are you ace of spades in the l4d world really |
