Post Strange Things Afoot on Verus Server
This one's for Mr Frog I think.

Some of us were playing on one of the HH versus servers late last night and a couple of problems occured.

We played "Death Toll" and both teams played through the first stage with no problems. However, the 2nd stage wouldn't load. The loading screen froze for everyone and we were all dc'd from the server.

So we started again, this time on "No Mercy". Again we played through the first stage and this time the 2nd stage loaded. However, the losing team from the previous round started as the survivors instead of Infected. This happened on all subsequent stages.

We kept going anyway and everything was ok until the end of stage four. It stuck on the loading screen again for the finale and again all were dc'd.

Think this was on server 5. Not sure what's going on :?

Yup, I've flagged this behaviour up internally I'm sure Jase will see it and sort it out soon in his magical way :) (if it is something within his control to fix that is)

In the meantime can ppl just post here to say whether they have been affected by these problems on the VS servers, so we can get a true picture if it does seem to be affecting everyone, thanks.

Oh and especially mention if you have had loading problems on survival/coop as I haven't encountered problems in that area, only VS for me sofar.

@ Trailz

The past few times i've tried to play the HH versus server Telgor referes to, there have been issues with losing connection and/or end of round point issues, where as Telgor stated, the losing team would play as Survivor. Another issue i found, is that scores would sometimes reverse at the end of a round, so per se, the losing team would end up with the higher score... Possibly linked to the issue of who plays as what team?

Yeah it's the same issue causing those but probably unrelated to the maps failing to load. The score/teamswap thing is caused partly by Valve again afaik I'm afraid, as after the DLC was released the teamswap bug was back, to correct this I think Jase put back on a 3rd party team organiser. Now Valve have either fixed it and it is uneccesary again or something is broke with it (i.e. it doesn't support forcing the teams into the different running order the new mechanic makes and always tries to enforce the original teams). A minor issue that should be easy enough to fix. ;)

Yea I encountered the loading screen freeze quite a few times, but I think it's on No Mercy when the final stage is loading.
I think every map has choke points and the freeze is no random thing.
Everything happened in versus, not coop/surv tho.

Happened again on server 5 last night. I dont recall experiencing this on server 6, but it could be down to "yet".

There was L4D server update last night. I don't have any details of it.
All of our L4D servers have been updated, they all have exactly the same set up, except for a single cvar setting the gamemode.

Seems this is due to a segmentation fault occuring in Valves server code, lets hope they get it sorted soon. Oh also I can confirm that it is affecting all the servers regardless of gametype :/ It just occurs very randomly.

Discussion about it on the steam server forums confirming it:
