18,500 people think that when they buy a game, it should then be updated for ever, and ever for free. What a sorry, sorry sight.

That's fine. 18,500 less morons on the servers.

19 000 is nothing, L4D sold like a million copies.

I just hope they do something so they don't sever the community in to L4d & L4d 2 variations.

18,500 people think that when they buy a game it should be finished, and if it isn't finished it should be finished for free.

L4D was a disappointment. Its has some improvement since release, but the lobby system is a joke, 3rd party support is completely lacking and its still pretty weak on content. I've had my fair share of fun out of it and I didn't pay full price for it either but I can understand completely if people feel cheated.

I bought L4D on the basis of its reviews, reviews which apparently turned a blind eye to all the games flaws, and the belief Valve would continue to support it as they have supported TF2. Valve have every right to take our money and run, but their good reputation was one of the reasons I bought the game in the first place. I'm certainly going to wait a fair while before I splash cash on L4D2. Its not that I'm angry with Valve, its just that if I don't think they are going to add to L4D2 over the course of several years then is it actually worth the price of admission? I'm not sure L4D was...

I aint signing no stupid boycott though. I'll buy the game if it is good.

I think what your missing is l4d is a very good game you can have some amazing fun on it, it was finished at release, you just thinki it wasnt as it doesent have the replayability of tf2 mainly due to the fact of less players so less randomness

This guy pretty much sums up how I feel about it:

http://boomercharged.net/2009/06/08/a-sequel-already/

No one expects a game to be updated forever Ares. Its just with the high standard set by TF2 everyone was expecting more for their money. This business model may be the shape of things to come with the world wide depression etc. Although from one interview I read it seemed like valve were just makig an exception in the case of L4D, as it was the way the team wanted to go.

I'll still be buying it no matter what. The thrill of smacking you guys about the head with a frying pan is too tempting and I'm too much of a valve fan boy not to

Not just that, Valve explicitly said they would be one-upping TF2 in that respect. Whereas in reality they got right to making the sequel.

You don't have to support this boycott, but it's not very hard to see why people are disappointed.

You could just wait for L4D3 coming out a year later, making the previous two obsolete.

Why does everyone think free patches don't bring money? think about it for a second.

A major tf2 patch usually comes with a 50% off for Tf2 and a free week, I'm pretty sure someone can dig up the post where valve said that during the scout patch tf2 players increased by something around 30%. (I might be wrong, but it was a lot).

What I'm trying to say is: if people believe the game is getting updated, is being supported they will gladly up money and buy it, thus making the whole free patch worth it in the end + the community loves you.

L4D2 is coming. If you don't like that fact, don't buy it. I know I will. Like the guy said, those people are just spoiled kids. They don't need to update their games, but they've still done it.
