Left 4 Dead DLC News Coming Soon
Valve promises new downloadable details shortly.

US, July 2, 2009 - Like a good zombie outbreak, you can't keep the Left 4 Dead news down for long. It appears that Valve is gearing up for a brand new Left 4 Dead downloadable content announcement before the end of the summer months. At a press event in London earlier today, Doug Lombardi told CVG that plans are in the works to bolster the support of the original game for both the PC and 360. "We plan to keep supporting Left 4 Dead 1. There will be some announcements coming before summer's out about what's coming there, and then we haven't shown everything that's in Left 4 Dead 2 yet," Lombardi said.

Lombardi also took a little time to address the furor of the fans over the announcement of the Left 4 Dead sequel so soon after the release of the first game, highlighting that he believes that some of the angered fans will understand what the company was trying to do. "I think 8, 9 months from now once everything's been out for a while and everyone's had time to see the complete product of Left 4 Dead 2 and see continued support for Left 4 Dead 1, they may sort of see what we were up to and what the method of our madness was there."

Along with his comments to CVG, Lombardi also spoke to OXM, mentioning that players interested in taking Left 4 Dead 2 will have a chance to test out the new gameplay before the launch eventually comes out later this year. Highlighting the fact that word of mouth between fans was key to the success of the first game, Lombardi mentioned that Valve will try to recapture lightning in a bottle. "With Left 4 Dead 2 we plan do a demo before the game comes out that'll have multiplayer in it and hopefully we can continue the free weekends with the full game post-launch."

We've contacted Valve for additional details on the L4D content, but we hadn't received any comment as of publish time.

tl:dr and my views

Great news, new L4D1 content soon, chance to play L4D2 before launch and confirmation of free weekends post launch for those that don't want to poney up full price as soon as it's released. Hoping for a good pre-order deal too, would have to be a good 15% though to get me to purchase before the first free weekend though.

Will be looking forward to the Demo, if it's half as good as the demo for L4D1, then i could be tempted to buy on reliase.

Pleased that they are standing behind their statment on more L4D1 content, just getting back into playing it at the moment, just shows of the overreaction on the news of L4D2.

Roll on infected bashing with a frying pan.
