Re: What to do with the L4D servers
It should be noted the Valve have stated, before the release of Crash Course, that there will be at least 1 more free DLC for L4D. They also said that it would probably include more special infected as well as new campaigns.
I'm not sure how much use the servers have been getting in the past but I do feel that there might still be life in the old dog.
Assuming that server load isnt a problem, I think we should keep 2 servers up. One for coop (including custom maps) and one for versus.

DJ might have a point here. I guess it all comes down to how much we are willing to spend.

Re: What to do with the L4D servers
There is no difference with us now having one dedicated box Java mate. It's just a question of juggling what we can fit in.
Yes we can keep support for more L4D servers easily, they can be turned off and on when needed. A typical L4D or TF2 server takes roughly 3-5% of the box's cpu when empty, when full the TF2 servers can easily get into the teens. So when all servers are empty or partially full it is never an issue, the more slots we run when at or near full capacity will force the box to give every player less updates etc tho, so will play worse. Also bear in mind that most of the website infrastructure also runs off this box too. That is why we have to jiggle things around to keep maximum player slots and therefor performance at a comfortable level.
