A request for competitive configs and mods
Hi guys, I was wondering if the management could have a look at installing some competitive configs for our l4d2 vs servers. I asked k3d and Frog about configs a while back but I guess you were busy.
I keep getting asked if we have configs like CEVO , Confogol , ESL etc and it looks like were starting to fall behind in what we offer compared to other clans out there.
Another popular mod is the !readyup mod. Which is good for matches when all must type !ready before a match can start. I've also seen a pause function mod which could be useful.
So my request is could we please have all 3 of those configs if possible as opitons in the admin menu? Could someone investigate current popular mods like !readyup and see if they like them and hopefully we can get our servers up with the times.
Cheers Neg

I'm aware of all the different match configs.
I don't think it's a question of if we are 'with the times', but rather if we actually have any competitive L4D2 teams to warrant them.
There doesn't even seem to be enough interest in our own tiny league, or anyone wanting to see it happen or help Gimpster run it.
There would be some big juicy flies in it for you frog

The HH league thing is a real shame btw but I have been in contact with all the teams and have failed to get any of them (except for zeus's team) to play in the past few weeks. I dont know what else to do other than start kicking ppl out of it....its already very small league as you say. If my help is wanted I will gladly give it though.

We could just restart with people who want to play. Be it only 3 or 4 teams. And maybe Vs or what ever.
Then set it to a set time ie thursday nights at 8 then people know.
It's not about not being arsed or important enough. I'm just checking that there is actually a demand for it. Over the years there have been things that have been set up or written, upon request, and then no one has really bothered to really use them. Adding multiple match configurations that use differing sourcemod plugins isn't a completely trivial task.
Unfortunately I don't have L4D2 to test it out, and I am very busy all this week setting up for a party.
Maybe Minty, DJ, SHP, Gimpster or K3D could respond to this?
Be aware that it's not quite as simple as it is for TF2.
server.cfg gets loaded at every map change and you don't want to be having to reload whatever match configuration file you are using at each stage in a match. So server.cfg just needs to be super basic or blank. (i.e. you want the match config settings to be persistent.) The public configuration will need to go into another file.
Also sourcemod plugins that are specific to a given match config will need to be unloaded/disabled by the other match configs and public config.
At the end of a match someone will have to remember to load the public config file.
Maybe if someone linked to the various different configurations then it will make the job of whoever ends up doing it a little bit easier.
Just wanna say that we did have some other players on the server when I was playing the other day who were criticising the server for not having certain mods, such as confogol. I don't really know enough about this area to comment but just wanted to add this in, and I think when we're being criticised about this it's definitely something to look into.
But like I said I know nothing about l4d2 mods etc hehe
