Lo. Be frank with me here, is this game fun? I don't mean WoW fun, i mean TF2 fun. I.E. you don't have to be a raving addicted fan of it to enjoy it, like WoW. Danke.

After you learn the very basics of the game it's good fun with people you know. With randoms it's entirely depending on what kind of a team you get. Don't take it too seriously though, or it becomes too rage inducing. There are free weeks every now and then if you're not interested in buying it straight away, or you could just play a few games (that don't count towards stats) on someone else's account.

Pretty much this.
There are some good guides for beginners out there, but getting better at this game still basically comes down to having a good understanding of all the heroes strengths and weaknesses, which you can only really get through playing. This would be no real problem in any other game, but HoN is a teamgame where your inexperience can actually end up hurting your team more than if you had just left at the start of the game.
Basically if you want to play this game then be prepared to get raged at for your first 50 games because you suck, then raged at every other game after that for whatever minor error you make. The game can be fun once you know whats going on and if you play with some friends, but I reckon 90% of new players simply give up on the way (and who could blame them...).
This is so true, game can be fun, but most of the time is more hassle than its worth...
I now play like I dont give a damn, and it is so much better that way, others work on a MUST win no matter how much we annoy everyone else - lame and dull that way tbh

This game is awesome with friends once u learn, but the question is do u have the patience to play hundred(s) of games. For me the HH inhouses back then helped alot to get into the game.
