I turned on the war mode config out of curiosity and removed everyone's admin status, and had the bright idea of moving to the match server. (Who knew the second team were so dedicated?) But I'm glad we got through in the end, and we're all ready for next week now.

It was OK, but as I said last night: this was one of the less well organised ladies nights, with 7v7 or even 8 (sometimes) it is about a hundred times more competitive and enjoyable.
This was not Bo or Bolts fault, rather: - People not turning up at 8.00, including me for the first time.
- PEOPLE LEAVING HALF WAY THROUGH OR WITHIN TWENTY MINUTES OF JOINING. We know that this is just a game and it's not like it's a life or death situation but please please please, if you are not going to stay, organise for someone else to take your place. Whether before hand, steam chat, whatever, just get it sorted.
- The cfg's caused us considerable grief, but with a little help from our friend the console, we sorted this out.
Was the reason the regs were kicked from the match server (#2 I think) because there was a possibility of a scrim going on? I ask this because there seems to be a lot of confusion over why they were all booted (I was not there at that time). I wouldn't want people to get the wrong idea and create bad blood between regs and clanners.
Apart from that, here's looking forward to more of our favourite Ladies Night.

Been playing at least 1 pcw every night for the past 1.5 weeks, we're dedicated allright.
Our intensive training regime has been going on slightly longer than that now Fluffy. My index finger has never been so toned and muscular.

It wasn't the possibility of having a pcw, we actually did have one. If we weren't using it, I'm sure no-one would have batted an eyelid.
Thanks Jason (and others?) for sorting out the config issue.
My suggestion to anyone planning to run a LN or any other community event would be to consider the Match servers off limits unless there's absolute clarity on whether that Match server is free.
I think Jasons saying that community events will have priority on the Regs server is spot on.
Jason - would it be possible to do a little knowledge sharing about how to 'fix' the issue that hitS3 on Wednesday night in case it happens again? People were asking me to help but there was nothing I could do, and unfortunately Minty couldn't help me out either. If you felt it appropriate I'd be happy for you to 'train me up' on what to do in the event of a similar emergency - or other things.
(and yes yes, I know I've not been on TF2 much recently, I'm having hordeloads of fun on L4D. I will be back. I just need some self-discipline on the zombie front.)

Do I need to return to run Ladies Night with an Iron Hand in an Iron Glove?

Bad form whoever did that. Bad form indeed. Ok so it looks like last night wasn't the ideal Ladies Night, and I know that if things don't go well it puts people off, but have a little patience and it'll all turn out alright. If you do need to go, make sure people know in advance and that you've got a replacement lined up. If you can't get a replacement, do the honorable thing and don't play to begin with.

As I said above, assume there's a match and there'll be no bad blood at all. If in any doubt whatsoever, always assume the match servers are off limits. Better safe than sorry

Hopefully it shouldn't happen again.
We use SourceMod to provide an easy menu-style interface to manage our servers. As part of the default SourceMod installation there are some server command menu options to turn war mode on and off.
In the default configuration, turning war mode on unloads all SourceMod plugin components, such as the AFK manager, chat filter, MySQL connectivity, IRC relay, mapvote, etc. etc. and then loads just the core basic components (change map, exec config, kick/ban) and then applies a lock so that no further plugins can be loaded.
As we use MySQL as a database for SourceMod admin allocation and permission, when the MySQL connection plugin was unloaded by the war_mode_on configuration, access to SourceMod was denied to people on the server.
So I have modified server command menu and removed the ability to turn war mode on and off. Now there are just the following 3 options: Standard Server Setup, Regs Match 30 and Reg Match 60.
The 2 match configurations have been modified to unload any unnecessary/annoying plugins that would get in the way of a match, such as AFK manager, advertisements, maprate, team balance, etc. and then apply a plugin load lock.
The Standard Server Setup config has been modified to unlock the plugin load lock and then explicitly reload any plugins that have been disabled by the match config and return the server to its normal state.
It should not be possible for this problem to occur again.
If it does, then just go to HLSW and type "exec server.cfg" in console, or simply just change or reload the map.
Us ignorant plebs really don't deserve such fine support from the Frog.
Don't let Bed paint such a bleak picture - our first game was actually really good.
I WILL be clamping down on registration though. All but one of our 'maybes' wasn't on (No more maybes in future I think, too much false hope.) Is getting 12+ people together on a wednesday night really so hard?

Yeah, what he said. We actually needed the server right when people got booted, otherwise I doubt anyone would've said a word against it.
