Not interested in trying goldeneye at all as it seems I'm one of the few that missed out on playing this lol. :cry:

I'm very interested in trying out SourceForts though as I love CTF gameplay, and I think it does look like it could be a lot of fun with a server full of us not having much of a clue what to do hehe. :D

sourceforts is teh awesom. usually ending up in abunch ofpeople reverting to 5 year olds complaining that people wont share the lego bricks with them and let them built their monstrosity/castle of doom. big fan of it and a lot of amusments. so im definitely in for that one.

i only played theoriginal goldeneye for a little bit so we'll see how it goes. i'll get it downloading overnight and pending family/gf comitments i hope to see you guys on there tomorrow.

That's exactly what I was thinking. :D

It's split into two phases, a build phase where people are kept separate and have to build up their bases (~15/20 mins usually). Then the combat phase (~10-15mins), where you assault each others bases to try and take the flag. Then, you get one more build phase (~10mins) and a final combat phase.

It's pretty involved, but fun all the same.

It appeals to people who like building lovely things and believing they've created the ultimate, impenetrable fort.

And then they watch in horror as they are torn down before their damp, crying eyes.

I'm voting for Sourceforts, I used to like it but it got let down by the sheer amount of retards who speant thier time dismanteling thier own teams Fort, And then swiching teams to the other side. I always went for quality making a perfectly vertical four sheet thick wall, with a perfectly built Raised platform to shoot over. The downside of that being that I never got it finished in time, and ended up with too few pieces. If we do do SourceForts I'm voting for an unlimited building fase that only ends when both teams are content, and a very large amount of pieces.

Gentlemans SF rules


Never Build a Cage arong the flag that can't be got into or got out of, always make some form of enterance/exit

Don't throw pieces higgelty piggeldy around and freeze them just to make it hard for the opposing team to see anything

Don't fire at an Engineer building something. It provokes stalemates. You CAN Fire at an Engie dismanteling something

Don't lock people in the spawn room

agree on the flag having to be accessible but that's part of the rules of the game no?

as for not shooting engineers? well why not? thier team should be protecting them and stuff.

as for not locking people in spawn room, another fairly obvious thing. basically don't be a jerk about it.

but unlimited build time and pieces doesn't sound liek a good idea to me. a lot of people get really stuck in an crazy/creative when building shit and we'll just end up with arts and crafts hour where everyone tries to build thier own masterpiece.

there is a pertcular element of skill in this game in being able to set up with a friend or two a good flag defence (and there are an umber of perticular templates of idea's considered 'good' out there), wall, entrances and turrets/gun emplacements. if we wanted to make palaces we should just pic up a mapping tool and start a 'bring your own fort' mod where players can compile thier forts against each other and but they have to share access in a no mans land.

I would really, really like to try a sourceforts night. I think it could be a lot of fun. However, servers are questionable at best. How easy is it for something to be loaded on the server?

Practical question only, people already have a lot on their plates and I understand if this would not be possible.

I like The Battle Grounds Mod. In it, you play as American Rebels or British Crown troops. Weapons are fairly inaccurate, hold only one shot, and take very long to reload. Melee, and discipline (to move as a unit, not going solo) are very important.

I downloaded Goldeneye Source, just in case I am around when fun starts. :)
